Let’s welcome the green shoots of spring
On 15th January Chris Smith & Linda Bauld who have featured on Saturday BBC Breakfast throughout the pandemic, were very optimistic that we are approaching the beginning of the end of the pandemic.
The government have re-iterated this reducing the number of days for isolation and lifting restrictions at the end of January. It is the general feeling, that whilst the latest variant has spread more quickly, the level of severe illness has been less and has now peaked. This is mainly due to the number of people who are now fully vaccinated, which means the impact of Covid is having the same effects as flu and are able to deal with in the same way with vaccines and new drugs.
So, it’s time to reset
On New Year’s Day there was a psychologist talking about New Year resolutions. Don’t we all make and break them before giving them a chance? She suggested that after everything we have gone through in the last 2 years, the most valuable one we could make, was to put ourselves first i.e., ‘Me First!’. Ladies, we are the worst at this. Nearly always our families come before ourselves.
Exhaustion effects mental health and mental health causes more exhaustion. It’s a vicious circle but one that can be broken. I believe this is a very important step to get back on track as life gradually returns to normal. One doesn’t have to say ‘No, not now,’ but find the courage to say, ‘Sorry, I am just in the middle of something, will get back to you shortly’, as we all need a better work/life balance.
Carer Recruitment
Carers are beginning to return to the profession, but we still need more. There are far too many vulnerable people not being properly looked after and we are doing our best to address the situation. We understand how hard it has been for carers during Covid. Please be assured, you are as important to us as our clients. We will always give you the maximum support. It’s time to feel proud that you can make a massive difference to somebody else’s life.
