Carers, we need your help!
As you are probably aware, there is a serious crisis in social care. The Local Authorities, in particular, are struggling to provide enough care in the home and the hospitals are getting bed blocked unnecessarily.
I recently experienced this with a client of ours who has been hospitalised for nearly 12 weeks, to the point that his mobility has been seriously compromised. His daughter was told he needed 2 carers, 4 times a day and that the re-enablement team would supply this. This was over a month ago and he is still waiting!
We suggested to the family that he had a live-in carer with daily carers supporting him for his moving and handing procedures. By the time you read this, he will have been home for a month. Sorted, as they say!
So, what is the solution?
This is a frightening situation that we are all facing in social care. As I have said before, carers who left the profession after Covid are not returning. Quite understandably, they want more choices in their work/life balance. Yes, caring for vulnerable people is very demanding, which is what makes you special and you should be respected accordingly. You can ask any of our longstanding and committed carers why they stay with us. It’s because we do everything we can to enable them to work around their lifestyles and family commitments.
So, guess what? I have some good news for carers!
As from 1st November 2022, carer’s rates are being raised, to take into consideration the ever-increasing cost of living. We are entering a period of very tough times, especially during the winter months. Who knows when the economy will improve?
Like my latest new client above, I have many other vulnerable people who are desperate for care at home and can provide you with daily hours to suit between 20 – 40 per week as well as weekly live-in care on a regular basis in our area. Please consider this carefully and our excellent rates. We are happy to have a chat at any time to re-assure you that we are committed to looking after both our carers as well as our clients.
Carer’s rates from 1st November 2022
Live-in Care: £760 – £980 per week
Overnight Care: £120 – £160 per 12 hours
Daily Care: £16 per hour weekdays – £18 per hour weekends
