100 years of caring for others
No, we have not suddenly been around for 100 years, but Tarporley War Memorial Hospital has, and they are celebrating big time this year. We are delighted to have become one of their official sponsors.
Apart from our monthly donation we will also feature the hospital as part of our Charity of the Month this month, so please go on Facebook and like, share or comment so we can reach our target of £100.
The hospital is committed to delivering individual, personal care. Their patients are at the centre of everything they do, and they cannot deliver their exceptional services without the support and generosity of the local community and businesses. At a recent meeting I was told by David Moore who is in charge of fundraising, that it costs over £1.3 million to run the hospital every year. They only receive £300,00 from the NHS!
I have always felt strongly that the answer to bed blocking in the general hospital is to have smaller local hospitals like Tarporley and that these should be fully funded by the government. However as this is not the case, we must all do everything we can to support these services in our local area.
How are we helping?
I thought it would be nice to sponsor some specific events that the hospital is running this year that involve children. Many of you will have seen programs on the television where primary school children have been visiting the elderly in their care homes. Children of course have no inhibitions, so interact with older people as if there were another granny or grandad. The delight they bring to the residents is a joy to watch so I think this is the generation to work with. Last month we sponsored The Easter Egg Hunt at Bolesworth Castle. The Easter Bunny was very busy that day! On 20thJuly we are holding a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ in Bunbury. There will be lots of activities including a range of Victorian children’s garden games, stalls and entertainment.
Finally, we are always looking to recruit kind and experienced people to add to our team of dedicated daily and live carers. If you know anyone who would like to make a difference to somebody else’s life, please pass on our details.
