Welcome to the Bunbury Agency, this information defines the way in which we like to conduct our business so that you will enjoy being one of our Childcarers.
The Agency is registered with the Association of Nanny Agencies (ANA) and abides by their code of conduct. We are also accredited by Best Bear, The Good Nanny Guide and MNT (Maternity Nurse Training).
Below are some guidelines and general information about registering with the Bunbury Agency as a Child Carer.
Procedures
- Having taken full details of the type of childcare experience you have and carefully checked your references, we will try to find you a vacancy most suitable for you. However, there can be no guarantee a successful vacancy will be found.
- We cannot offer you any vacancies unless you have complied with our registration requirements.
- We will provide your prospective employer with a resumé of your qualifications and experience but you must take all original documents to an interview so that the Employer can verify your suitability.
- You will only be put forward to one Employer at a time. If your interview is successful you will be offered a two week trial period.
- You must inform the agency when your Trial Period is to commence.
- If the trial period is successful, you must inform the Agency of the number of hours you will be working and the rate of pay that has been agreed with your Employer. We will also confirm the same with the Employer.
- Information about your Employer is confidential and should not be divulged to anyone outside the Agency. Similarly, any information held on you will be safely stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- Should you be employed on a temporary basis you are not permitted to be re-engaged by the Employer otherwise than through the Agency.
- You are not employed by the Agency and the Agency shall incur no liability whatsoever or howsoever arising from any act, default, negligence or otherwise of any Staff employed by the Employers through the Agency.
The Agency is in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Your details are only divulged to your employee and Agency staff, as required. All information held on you will be safely and confidentially stored in accordance with the Act.

Nannies

- As a qualified Nanny you must have specific qualifications in childcare such as an NNEB, CACHE or GNVQ.
- Your main responsibility is to look after the children in every aspect, from organising their leisure activities to preparing meals and looking after their clothes.
- You may often be required to have sole charge if parents are at work.
- As a full time daily Nanny, you should expect to be paid around £350 per week (net of Tax & NI) depending on the hours and your experience. You should expect to work a 5 day week and no more than 10 hours per day.
- A full time live in Nanny should expect to be paid around £300 per week (net of Tax & NI) as well as full board and lodging and may have to work longer hours than a daily Nanny. You should not work more than 50 hours per week and must be given a minimum of one full day off per week.
- A part time Nanny should expect to be paid around £8.50 per hour plus travel expenses (Tax & NI will be dependant upon the total weekly amount paid. The current threshold is £105.00).

Mother’s Helps

- As a Mother’s Help you do not necessarily have to have specific childcare qualifications but you must have experience in looking after children.
- You will usually work alongside the Mother and assist more with general household duties.
- A Mother’s Help is not qualified to have sole charge of a child so this has to be at the discretion of the employer.
- A daily full time Mother’s Help should not be expected to work more than 45 hours per week.
- As a daily Mother’s Help, you should expect to be paid between £300 – £350 per week (net of Tax & NI) depending on the hours and your experience.
- A live in Mother’s Help should expect to be paid between £250 – £300 per week (net of Tax & NI) as well as full board and lodging and may have to work longer hours than a daily Mother’s Help but must be given a minimum of one day off per week.
- A part time Mother’s Help should expect to be paid between £8.00 – £8.50 per hour plus travel expenses (Tax & NI will be dependant upon the total weekly amount paid. The current threshold is £105.00).

Nanny Jobs and Vacancies around the UK and in Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales
Maternity Nurses

- As a Maternity Nurse you will be expected to have Maternity Nurse training or considerable experience in the care of newborn babies.
- Your role is to attend to the baby and the mother during the first few weeks after birth, whilst providing invaluable advice for the parents and also allowing the mother to recover from the birth.
- As a live in Maternity Nurse employers are informed that you will also require a day off per week and expect to be paid between £750 – £1,000 gross per week for the care of a single baby.
- As a non live in Maternity Nurse on day or night shifts, you should be able to work 10 – 12 hours depending on the Employers’ requirements and should expect to be paid approximately £100 – £120 gross per shift.
- Maternity Nurses are usually self employed and you must make your own arrangements for Tax and NI.
- If the baby is late in arriving a Maternity Nurse should expect to be paid half pay for the first week and full pay for the second week.
Please note that salaries in London can be up to 15% higher.

Child Care Recruitment

The Bunbury Agency takes great pride in looking after all the Staff who register, and look forward to helping you find the right vacancy that matches your expertise.
All references are meticulously checked and verified by us over the telephone with previous Employers. This allows us to ask further questions which are appropriate, and gain more in-depth knowledge of your expertise.
All Child Carers have to be interviewed by the Agency, either face to face or via Skype.
Staff are required to provide the following documentation as a minimum:
- CV or letter listing your full employment history.
- Two written references from your most recent employers, one of which must be from your last employer if possible.
- All references must have full name, address, contact telephone number, date and signature of the referee.
- We cannot accept a reference from any member of your family.
- Written confirmation from yourself that you are in good physical and mental health.
- Photocopies of all relevant qualifications and certificates e.g. NNEB, CACHE, NVQ, City & Guilds, Ofsted Registration, Nursing, Caring, Moving & Handling, Food & Hygiene, Cooking etc.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- Photocopy of your Passport NB: If you are not a British National we must have a copy of your Passport, Visa and working papers.
- Photocopy of Driving Licence (please copy both parts).
- One recent passport size photograph.
- Copy of a recent utility bill or bank statement addressed to you confirming your current address.
- We will need your National Insurance Number.
- An Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (CRB) which is less than 3 years old.
CRB Information
If you do not have a current CRB (Police check) this can be done through our on-line system or through our website.
- You will need to provide the required original documentation. Photocopies are not acceptable.
- Once your documents have been authorised by the Agency, they will be returned to you by Recorded Delivery.
- Your application will be processed by our Government Registered Body.
- Please be patient because time schedules depend on the Police Authority.
Please note that we cannot offer you any vacancies that involve caring for children without a valid CRB and First Aid Certificate.
